Intake Manifold
The "Super Six"
To help my Slant-6 run a bit nicer, I bought a later Chrysler "Super Six" factory 2-barrel intake manifold on eBay for $125. These manifolds are somewhat hard to find, particularly these days. They were offered as a performance option from 1977-1980 on passenger cars and 1979-1980 on trucks and vans. To make things even more difficult for me, this intake option was never available in California due to emissions laws. So pretty much the only way to get one of these manifolds in California is to buy from eBay.
However, once you have one it bolts right up to your exhaust manifold and head like the stock standard 1-barrel intake.
Because I'm not running any vacuum accessories and my car is not subject to California emissions testing, I plugged the vacuum tap port with a threaded plug.
Now the engine can breathe a bit more freely, but the Holley 2280 carburetor that came with my intake just refused to run well on my engine. So after some discussion we decided to track down a Weber 32/36 2-barrel carburetor and see how that will run.
